1983 1 Pound from Scotland. Clydesdale Bank PLC. Pk 211b and serial number D/CG 721793. Graded 65 Exceptional Paper Quality Gem Uncirculated by PMG. A spectacular note in almost perfect condition, making it a rare find with only one finer known to PMG! With an appearance of a higher grade, this banknote offers nearly perfect margins, deep embossing, and bold colors on crisp white paper! Robert the Bruce is featured on the front left. Robert I, popularly known as Robert the Bruce, was King of Scots from 1306 until his death in 1329. Robert was one of the most famous warriors of his generation, and eventually led Scotland during the First War of Scottish Independence against England. He fought successfully during his reign to regain Scotland's place as an independent country and is today revered in Scotland as a national hero. The reverse side of the banknote depicts a scene of the 1314 Battle of Bannockburn. An old sailing ship repeated vertically can be noted as the watermark on the right side.
