1849 G$1 No L, D-1, MS65+ PCGS. CAC. The star at the point of the bust is repunched on this business-strike variety. The first-year 1849 gold dollar is a popular type coin, although Gem examples are scarce. This is the sole Plus-graded Gem at PCGS, benefiting from semireflective fields and razor-sharp, frosty devices. Bright yellow-gold surfaces are devoid of major abrasions. Population: 38 in 65 (1 in 65+), 13 finer. CAC: 7 in 65, 3 finer (10/21). HID06601242017
