Open Wreath, Copper Green-Gold, Steely Fields, Fully Choice, Lakeland Collection. The first U.S. gold dollars were struck during 1849 as there was a large influx of gold bullion from the newly opened California mines. The Open Wreath reverse design was initially employed and later replaced with the Closed Wreath that year. This well preserved survivor has earned a GFRC-Choice quality rating for its unblemished steely fields and copper green-gold coloration. The obverse strike is complete while the reverse has a weak second L in the denomination. A horizontal die crack proceeds from the I in UNITED across the wreath and into the denomination. Faily priced and certain to please. Housed in PCGS Gen 6.1 (2020-2023) holder.
