Rare in gem condition, this is a truly amazing survivor of one of the earliest coins issued by the authority of the United States. Luminous luster shines from remarkably smooth surfaces. Planchet roughness is mostly confined to the lower obverse rim with the overall appearance quite pleasing. A dominant patina of deep mahogany color uniformly coats both sides with subtle steely-blue and rose undertones and slightest red-orange peeking through in the a few select sheltered areas. Well-struck throughout with pronounced clash marks on the reverse adding visual interest. Identified as an example of the Newman 8-B variety (R.3), by the N in MIND is centered over the left upright of the U in BUSINESS, and the R in ARE is close above the N in ONE. The obvious high-quality and CAC approval of this piece is sure to garner the attention of astute collectors! Visit www.davidlawrence.com for more information on this coin and 7000+ more coins.
