Unknown in mint state, this is a popular variety that is always in high demand! Although not noted on the holder, all "Bearded Goddess" Half Dollars are from the Overton 111b die pair variety that features the 50/20 on the reverse. This piece was, no doubt, struck just before the obverse die was retired as evidenced by the large, prominent die crack stretching from the I in LIBERTY through her eye, chin, and breast, and almost hitting the rim right before the date. The die crack adds significant interest, especially when it is bold like the present coin. Concentric rainbow toning engulfs the obverse in a brilliant display upheld by pleasing luster for the grade. The reverse is coated in a hazy grey tone and glows with slightly subdued luster. Even, grade-defining wear touched the high points, yet nice details remain visible across the attractive surfaces. Bested by just eight examples, the highest being three 55s, this is a high-end coin ready for the astute collector! Visit www.davidlawrence.com for more information on this coin and 7000+ more coins.
