Only 19,800 pieces were struck for this issue. A very weak and muddy strike, as is typical for the date/Mint. The New Orleans Mint was well known for strike issues and this coin is the prime example of that. The luster, however, is undeniable and true to form for an uncirculated coin. Light, lemon-gold surfaces are completely untoned and adorned with a frosty finish. While the strike leaves much to be desired, the surfaces are smooth and remarkably free of any distracting hits or blemishes. PCGS lists just one finer, an MS64, making this a wonderful registry set opportunity! Visit www.davidlawrence.com for more information on this coin and 7000+ more coins.
