T5 $100 1861 PF-1 Cr. 5 PMG Choice Very Fine 35 Net. This was the first note designed and printed by the Southern Bank Note Co. after supplies of notes were cut off from National Bank Note Company in late April 1861. The small branch office of ABNCo (who was using the cover name of Southern Bank Note Co.) in New Orleans was ill equipped to produce large quantities of new designs and took many weeks to finally produce this and the companion $50. Only 5,798 notes were issued between August 25 and September 23, 1861. This note is hammer cancelled and bears a stamp on the back indicating that the note had been redeemed for its face value plus $4.25 interest. It was then hammer and punch hole cancelled with these being sealed / closed at some later time. HID08101242017
