1793 1C Wreath, Vine and Bars Edge, S-9, B-12, R.2, VF30 PCGS. Die State I. Studies done for all 1793 Wreath cents produce a population between 2,200 to 2,900, before breaking down to an estimate of 750 to 1,000 S-9 examples, totaling around a third of the extant coins. Deep brown patina adorns this piece along with striations of lighter hazelnut and deeper olivine-green hues. The strike is excellent with some minor weakness noted along the hair, though the wreath is immaculate considering the grade. There is a litany of minor marks and mild granularity seem to be largely the detractions for the grade along with a few tiny rim bumps. Even in VF, the 1793 is challenging in all varieties, this Sheldon-9 piece making for an appealing acquisition. Ex: FUN Signature (Heritage, 1/2011), lot 3127.
