1793 1C Chain, AMERICA, S-3, B-4, Low R.3, Poor 1 PCGS. Historical as the first type struck for commerce at the U.S. Mint, the Chain cent is ranked #21 in the 6th edition of 100 Greatest U.S. Coins. This example is well-worn yet has a bold chain and a readable ONE CENT and fraction. The date and LIBERTY cannot be discerned, but the straight shape of the bust truncation suggests Sheldon-3 as the most likely attribution. A linear depression is noted above the portrait.
