1872 1C-S$1 10-Piece Proof Set, PR62 to PR64 NGC. The set includes: Cent PR64 Red and Brown. A sharp strike complements the satiny devices and reflective fields, while dusky woodgrain lavender-brown toning accents the copper-orange color. A spot at the top of the 7 in the date serves as a pedigree marker. Two Cent PR63 Red and Brown. Sharply struck and toned with deep lavender and copper-orange hues. On the reverse, two large carbon spots appear above the A and final S in STATES. Three Cent Nickel PR64. JD-1, R.2. A boldly struck Choice proof with reflective fields and dusky light golden-tan toning. Three Cent Silver PR62. JD-1. Boldly struck and toned in a conglomerate of old-time hues, with scattered marks that define the grade. Shield Nickel PR64. Fletcher-6, JD-1, R.2. Dusky gray toning over reflective fields and boldly struck design elements characterize this piece. Half Dime PR62. JD-1. Old-time blue, lavender, and olive-gold toning encompasses this reflective and well-struck piece. Minor marks are not bothersome. Dime PR62. Fortin-103, JD-1, R.3. Similarly toned and well struck as the half dime, though with warmer orange-gold in the margins. Light marks define the grade. Quarter PR62. Briggs 3-C, JD-1. The same array of colors adorn the quarter as appeared on the dime and half dime, complementing a bold strike and deeply reflective fields with minimal marks for the grade. Half Dollar PR63. JD-1, R.3. Similarly toned as the preceding silver pieces in the set, and comparably well struck with excellent eye appeal. Silver Dollar PR63. OC-P1, JD-1, R.2. Toned similarly to the other silver pieces but with more blue throughout the obverse fields, which are deeply reflective and attractive. From The Cole Carter Collection.
