Alexandria, (DC)- Merchants Bank of Alexandria $50 July 27, 1815 G28 Jones-Littlefield BA25-35 PMG About Uncirculated 50. The Merchants Bank of Alexandria organized in 1815, only to shutter its doors by order of a shareholders' vote on May 18, 1816. Commerce reclines on a wharf with an eagle and cornucopia at center as part of the $50 design which was executed by W. Harrison of Philadelphia, PA. While the majority of notes from this institution are difficult to obtain, higher denominations, specifically the $50 and $100, are especially challenging to locate. Our current offering has seen very little time in circulation and retains excellent paper body. We last auctioned this exact piece in July 2020, when it garnered $360.
