Aberdeen, MS- Aberdeen & Pontotoc Rail Road & Banking Company $5 18__ G8 Krause 10025p Proof PMG Choice Uncirculated 63. The Aberdeen & Pontotoc Rail Road Company was a short lived institution which was incorporated on February 26, 1836, and closed in February 1840 due to failure to pay specie for its notes. The $5 design shares the same center vignette of men loading a wagon with cotton bales that was later used on the T13 Confederate $100 Treasury Note. This is flanked by vignettes of Ceres and Navigation in end panel niches. A small vignette of a cotton boll appears at bottom center. Imprint of Draper, Toppan, Longacre & Co. Phila & N.Y. The note is printed on India paper mounted on cardstock with no forms of cancellation present.
