A Selection of Adams Express Company Shipping Receipts from Indiana, Maryland, and Pennsylvania (2) Various Amounts 1859-1891 Very Fine or Better. This lot comprises Express Receipts for shipments made via Adams Express Company between 1859 and 1891. All are free of repairs and meaningful impairments. All have minimal evidence of minimal handling and filing. Indianapolis, IN- Receipt for one package said to contain $480 (presumably cash or some other negotiable instrument). July 24, 1862 Extremely Fine Sent from General Elliott in Indianapolis to Mrs. Kate Richey of Franklin, IN; Baltimore, MD- Receipt for one package said to contain $500 (presumably in cash or some other negotiable instrument). June 14, 1859 Very Fine Sent from Mr. O'Brien in Baltimore to John Mc Daniel in Johnstown, PA. An attractive blue underprint gives this receipt additional visual appeal; Philadelphia, PA- Army and Soldiers Package Express Receipt for one box January 15, 1863 Fine-Very Fine Sent from Frank Eap (?) in Philadelphia to W.W. Meech, Hospital Chaplain, Louisville, KY. Meech is mentioned in newspaper items between 1862 and 1864 in Louisville and after the Civil War returned to several different Baptist parish ministries in Pennsylvania; Philadelphia, PA- Receipt for one package ("Value Asked, Not Given" is stamped on the form) Mar. 14, 1891 Fine-Very Fine with an edge nick and one 1" fold split in the top margin.
