"Secret Marks" Partial Back Proof Fr. 184 $500 1869 Legal Tender PMG Encapsulated Not Graded. The back of the $500 denomination was also printed by the American Bank Note Company. This left half section measures approximately 3.5 inches wide. A red ink line for a proposed "secret mark" ends at the bottom frame of the Legal Tender clause.
