1863 3CS MS66+ PCGS. CAC. The 1863 mintage of 21,000 coins was the first time the denomination hit a five figure low, which was spurred in part by the Civil War that surrounded its striking, and much of the original issue was subsequently melted. Rosy-silver luster displays over this piece with some light cyan toning around the rims and is unimpeded by any marks. The strike is strong with solid details around all elements with very minimal lapping within the recesses of the crescent.
