1909-S 1C LINCOLN MS65 RB PCGS CAC - Red Brown or RED? The 1909-S Lincoln cent holds enduring importance as a first-year issue of the celebrated Lincoln design, marking the debut of Abraham Lincoln as the first real historical figure portrayed on a circulating United States coin. Struck at the San Francisco Mint with the Type 1 Wheat reverse, this PCGS-certified MS65 RB example with CAC approval offers impressive originality and premium visual appeal for the issue. The luster remains lively for the RB designation, in fact we are frankly surprised that this is even considered a RB. We consider this not 99% Red but 100% Red. Beyond the Red, the coin is also in our opinion conservatively graded. Not sure what was going on that day. Regardless, typical RB examples sell for approximately $1,000, whilst more Red examples that were designated RB have sold for $1,477 05/26 GC. Even a 65 RB NGC CAC that was also similarly full Red sold for $1,307 07/26 GC.
