A Selection of Four Georgia Obsolete Notes Used for Advertising from Augusta (2), Bainbridge, and Milledgeville ca. 1849-1863. Bank of Augusta $20 18__ Remainder About Uncirculated Used as the host note for a promotional piece given out at the 1908 National Prohibition Convention held in Columbus, OH in 1908. The Southern Star was a prohibition tabloid published by the Barker Publishing Company of Atlanta; Mechanics Bank of Augusta $5 July 1, 1849 Very Good-Fine Has a rubberstamp on the back advertising Darby's Prophylactic Fluid. This was a long lived popular product sold from the 1850's to at least the 1920's that was used as a disinfectant. The style of the stamp suggests that it was used in the 1850's-1870's. the note has a short edge tear at left; Southern Bank of Georgia, Bainbridge $1 Mar. 1, 1858 Fine Used as the host note for an ad for A.B. Hall, Dispensing and Family Druggist in New Haven, CT. Hall was in business around the 1870's to 1910's; State of Georgia $1 Jan. 1, 1863 Fine This Civil War era state issue served as as the host note for an ad for Dr. C.J. Lane of Jackson, MI.
