Amsterdam, NY- Bank of Amsterdam Altered $5 Nov. 20, 1860 A5 PMG Choice Fine 15. This note is an alteration of a note originally printed for use by a fraudulent concern in Lafayette, IN, the Pioneer Association. This fraud burst upon the scene in 1861-62 and quickly disappeared, but its unissued notes were soon being altered to appear to be the issues of over sixty different banks, including eleven banks in New York.
