A Selection of Five Drafts, Certificates of Deposit and a Customer Check on the Geo. Washington Bank 1863-1871 Fine-Very Fine or Better. The Geo. Washington Bank operated as an Individual proprietor free bank between July. 1854 and October, 1864. It transitioned to being a private bank under the banner of G.W. Patterson / Geo. Washington Banking Office in 1865 and 1866. A final change in names to the Geo. Washington Bank identified the private bank from 1866 until it suspended in February, 1875. This lot comprises five drafts, certificates of deposit, and a customer check that reflect this progression in organization and titles. Each has a portrait or vignette of Washington and an adhesive orange 2¢ revenue stamp affixed and is cut or hammer canceled. Aside from a few pinholes, the instruments are free of meaningful impairments and repairs. HID08101242017 www.HA.com/TexasAuctioneerLicenseNotice
