1797 $1 10x6 Stars, Large Letters, B-3, BB-71, R.2, VF25 PCGS. Bowers Die State III, late, shows advanced die lapping on the top hair detail and on palm leaves in the right branch of the wreath. Delivery warrants for 1797 silver dollars show a production of 7,776 coins that were struck in February, May, June, and August. However, many 1797 silver dollars were struck in 1798, and some estimates suggest that as many as 60,000 were struck from three die pairs. Pleasing antique-gray surfaces exhibit splashes of cinnamon-brown toning that gather on the reverse. A few light obverse abrasions on Liberty's cheek and chin are the sole marks of note -- otherwise, the obverse fields and devices are largely problem-free and no adjustment marks are visible on either side. Ex: Long Beach Signature (Heritage, 2/2025), lot 3878. HID06601242017 www.HA.com/TexasAuctioneerLicenseNotice
