(1688) American Plantations 1/24 Part Real, Original, Sidewise 4, N. 3-C, W-1145, R.7, MS60 PCGS.. The five Guide Book listed American Plantation token varieties include the common 1/24 Part Real, the plentiful circa 1828 restrike, and three rare varieties: the Sidewise 4, the Transposed Arms, and the ET. HB. REX rarity. For the Sidewise 4, also known as the Sideways 4, there are two die marriages cataloged as Newman 3-C and Newman 8-C. PCGS has certified just two Mint State examples of the Sidewise 4 type, including this example and another piece also graded as MS60 (8/26). The population remains unchanged since we offered this well-struck example 18 years ago. Consistently granular deep gray surfaces are unabraded save for minor edge marks on the reverse near 3 o'clock. Listed on page 12 of the 2026 Guide Book.
