1907 $20 High Relief, Wire Rim, MS62 PCGS. Perhaps the most beautiful coin ever struck for circulation by the U.S. Mint, was short-lived, due to the time-consuming process of producing it. Multiple die impressions were needed to bring up the relief of Saint-Gaudens' High Relief double eagle, making mass coinage a laborious and unsustainable task. After the sculptor's passing in August 1907, Charles Barber produced a low-relief version of the design, which was used for the remainder of the series. The High Relief coinage amounted to only 12,367 pieces, and any example today is a sought-after coin.      This piece displays a bold strike and a prominent wire rim around the entirety of each side. Scattered light abrasions determine the grade, though none individually stand out. A pleasing example. Listed among the 100 Greatest U.S. Coins. HID06601242017 www.HA.com/TexasAuctioneerLicenseNotice
