Gem AU (13: 4;5;4). FS-401b. The obverse of 1856. Prooflike fields. These are listed by die pair under the Snow-2 listing; which is the Obverse style of 1856 without a die variety. These are listed as S-2a; S-2b; etc. This die pair shares the obverse with the S-2b; but with another reverse not previously described; so it gets the Snow-2g designation. This is an exceptional example that was once graded MS62; but downgraded to fit the collecting parameters of AU58. This piece really glitters in the light with the prooflike fields. Also; the dies are rotated so the eagle flies upward. Another gem from the Bob Travis AU58 collection.
