Named so for the three conspicuous errors on the reverse - the denomination fraction '1/000', a missing left stem (or errant right stem; all about perspective), and the broken aperture of 'U', causing 'UNITED' to appear as 'IINITED'. Paired with two different obverses, creating two varieties, S-218 and S-219. The S-219 pair, like the present example, is considerably more common, making this perfect for type purposes. Deep cocoa nib surfaces left mostly smooth through honest, even circulation wear. Remaining device outlines are bold and Liberty's hair is still appreciable!
