Maryland Army Certificate £50 May 25, 1782 Anderson MD-2 PMG Very Fine 25. This Maryland Army Certificate was issued to William Grimes, who enlisted in Captain Alexander Furnival's Company of Artillery as a matross (a soldier who constructed carriages for artillery and often served as part of gun crews) sometime before November 1777. Furnival's company was stationed in Baltimore the whole year of 1777. Grimes later fought in the Southern campaign throughout the 1780s, serving until at least 1782. The certificate is hole-canceled with lengthy endorsements on the back and has splits and minor edge roughness. HID08101242017 www.HA.com/TexasAuctioneerLicenseNotice
