Maryland 6% Specie Certificate £4 9s 8d Mar. 1, 1792 Anderson MD-7 PMG About Uncirculated 50. A small format certificate printed on laid paper with a simple ornamental border, this note was payable to Beriah Maybury and was issued and signed by Thomas Harwood, Maryland Colonial Currency signer, as Treasurer. These certificates, which paid 6% interest and were issued to adjust the state debt, had ongoing act continuations from the Annapolis session that commenced May 10, 1781. These were payable to the bearer, acting as currency if necessary. There is an interesting error on this certificate. The numerical value in the upper left corner is written as £4 9s 3d while the amount written elsewhere in the text lists eight pence. This example was nicely removed from its previous mounting.
