Virginia May 7, 1781 $35 PMG About Uncirculated 50. Part of an issue of $60,000,000 that was authorized in May 1781, this note was to be redeemable at the ratio of 40 paper for $1 in specie by December 1, 1794. But in November 1781, the entire emission's legal tender status was rescinded, it was to be redeemed at a ratio of $1000 paper for $1 specie, and it was to become worthless after October 1, 1782. It is no wonder that people distrusted paper money. This typeset note bears the signatures of Bolling Stark and John Lyne and is well printed on bright paper with decent margins. PMG mentions some minor edge damage and a (very light and small) stain. From The Richard Jones Collection HID08101242017 www.HA.com/TexasAuctioneerLicenseNotice
