1793 1/2 C C-2, B-2, R.3, Fine 12 PCGS. The 1793 Liberty Cap with the Head Facing Left not only represents the first half cents struck at the U.S. Mint, it is also a single-year type coin. In 1794 the half cent was re-designed to have Liberty facing right. Only 35,334 1793 examples were struck and Cohen-2 is the second variety produced in 1793. This Fine 12 example displays medium chocolate-brown patina and faint tinges of silver-tan on the devices. All letters and numbers are legible and the devices are clearly outlined. A prominent die crack runs from 9 o'clock through the R in LIBERTY (as struck). Distractions are limited to only a few tiny nicks. PCGS Population (Cohen-2): 1 in 12, 15 finer (9/26).
