Malaya Board of Commissioners of Currency 100 Dollars 1942 (ND 1945) Pick 15s KNB15S Specimen PMG Choice Extremely Fine 45. This 100 Dollars Specimen hails from an issue prepared during one of the most turbulent periods in Malayan history. Although dated 1942, notes denominated in Dollars were not released for circulation until 1945, following the end of the Japanese occupation during the Second World War, upon the restoration of British control. The Specimen form is exceptionally scarce, with just 12 examples recorded in total in the PMG Population Report at time of cataloging, compared with nearly 680 issued examples. While seven Specimen examples are graded finer than the example offered here, such a limited population demonstrates just how difficult the format would be to acquire at any grade level. Printer's annotation and previous mounting are mentioned on the holder, but do not detract from the inherent rarity and historical interest of this note.
