1865 G$1 MS62 PCGS. The Philadelphia Mint struck a minuscule production of 3,725 gold dollars in 1865, the final year of the Civil War. Precious-metal coinage did not actively circulate in the Eastern part of the country at that time, and most 1865 gold dollars were destroyed through widespread hoarding and melting, making the issue elusive in all grades today. This spectacular MS62 specimen exhibits razor-sharp design elements and vivid yellow gold patina, with a mix of satiny luster and prooflike reflectivity in the fields. The minimally marked surfaces reveal no mentionable distractions. PCGS Population: 10 in 62, 35 finer (8/26). HID06601242017 www.HA.com/TexasAuctioneerLicenseNotice
