1880 Gold Dollar $1 PCGS MS 63 Looks PL Proof Like Gen 3.0 OGH Exceptional 1880 Gold Dollar graded PCGS MS 63 and housed in an early Gen 3.0 Old Green Holder. This coin has an unusually strong Prooflike appearance with deeply mirrored fields and excellent contrast on both sides. The characteristic die-file lines or “spikes” through ATES in STATES are clearly visible and are a known diagnostic seen on highly Prooflike 1880 business strikes. This early holder predates PCGS offering the PL designation for this series, so the label simply reads MS 63. A remarkably flashy example that truly looks PL in hand.
