An absolutely gorgeous 1879 S (Reverse of 1878) Morgan dollar graded MS 62 PL by NGC. It has an exceptional quality strike with blast white and extremely lustrous proof-like surfaces. We believe this beauty could have easily ended up graded a point higher from NGC. It has been labeled by NGC to be the 1879 S Rev of 1878 Top 100 variety. This beautiful coin has been housed in a newer style NGC holder and is seldom ever offered with proof like surfaces. This date is fairly common holding a mintage of 9;110;000. However; for this variety the PCGS Coin Facts estimates that only 8;900 have survived in all grades. Furthermore; they estimate only 100 of these have survived in all grades with proof like surfaces! This stunning coin is one of just 43 graded Mint State 62 Proof Like by NGC.
