Lot 192 - $5 1908 Indian PCGS MS67

Las Vegas, NV – Legend Rare Coin Auctions wrapped up The Regency Auction VIII in Las Vegas last Thursday, their first since parting ways with Morphy Auctions.  Veteran auctioneer Brad Karloff joined the Legend Auctions team for the first time, calling 232 lots in just under two hours.  A packed house battled with enthusiastic phone and internet bidders, with buyers taking home nearly all of the Regency offering.

Julie Abrams, Legend Rare Coin Auctions President, "could not have been happier with the results of this auction, our most spectacular to date in terms of prestige and quality.  With the first auction under our new company, we have hit our stride of what I think is the perfect formula: small boutique auctions with the highest quality coins and personalized customer service at every level.  Both our buyers and consignors were very vocal about the quality of the presentation, our new auction platform, and most importantly, how pleased they were with the results."

Prices realized were $2,259,072.66 with Buyer's Premium, including a number of fantastic highlights:

Legend Auctions partner Laura Sperber was "thrilled to see so many record prices set on the Simpson Proof Seated Dimes.  Watching the bidding war that drove the 1860 Seated Dime to a record $18,812.00 was exciting to say the least, and seeing the 1856 Proof Set sell for nearly $500,000.00 was a dream come true for me.  Overall, the prices realized exceeded my expectations and there is no question that the market for quality rare coins is alive and well."  In addition, Sperber said she was "humbled by the intense collector participation in the sale, with over 85% was sold direct to collectors."

"We were ecstatic with how the new platform performed throughout the entire Regency Auction VIII process," remarked Devin Healey, Director of Digital Marketing & Auction Operations.  "AuctionFlex and Bidopia have all but eliminated any of the issues some bidders experienced in previous sales.  Hundreds of new registrations and unique bidders combined for a really terrific sale.  We're looking forward to improving the user experience even further in subsequent sales."

All prices realized are posted on the Legend Rare Coin Auctions website:

The next Legend Rare Coin Auctions sale, The Regency Auction IX, will return to The Bellagio in Las Vegas on Thursday, October 2nd at the PCGS Members Only Show.  Lot viewing will be available at the ANA World's Fair of Money, the Long Beach Coin & Collectibles Expo, and by appointment.
