PCGS at February 2009 Long Beach Expo

- January 21, 2009

The Professional Coin Grading Service (PCGS) will play a leading role at the upcoming Long Beach Coin, Stamp & Collectibles Expo, February 5 – 7, 2009. The three-day show will be held at the Long Beach Convention Center, 100 S. Pine Ave., in Long Beach, California.

One of the highlights of the event will be the first West Coast appearance of Sunnywood's "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" set of exquisitely toned Morgan silver dollars, one of the top-ranked sets and most unusual sets in the PCGS Set RegistrySM. The colorful, 97-coin set will be displayed at the PCGS booth (#807).

Assembled by attorney Douglas Kurz, the Sunnywood collection includes a rainbow-toned 1881-S Morgan dollar graded PCGS MS-68; an 1882-S graded PCGS MS-67 from the collection of former National Football League linebacker, Gregg "Ironman" Bingham; and the Louis E. Eliasberg Sr. specimen 1893-S graded PCGS MS-68.

Examples of the wide variety of coins in the extensive PCGS Grading Set will also be displayed during the show's public hours. PCGS representatives will be available to answer questions and provide visitors with a closer look at the coins.

PCGS Co-Founder David Hall, President of Collectors Universe, Inc., will be available to personally examine and informally discuss collectors' and dealers' coins at the PCGS booth. The "Meet the Expert" sessions with Hall are scheduled for 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday, February 5, and from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Friday, February 6.

PCGS will be accepting on-site submissions for both on-site and home office grading. On-site turnaround is targeted at 24 hours for Regular show submissions, and two to three hours for Show Express. Please check with PCGS personnel for exact hours that each submission type will be accepted.

The public hours of the Long Beach Expo are Thursday and Friday, February 5 and 6, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., and on Saturday, February 7, from 10 a.m. to 5 pm. (The show is closed on Sunday.)

General admission is $6 (good for all three days); $4 for members of any coin or stamp club who display a valid membership card; and $3 for seniors 65 and older. Admission is free for children ages seven and younger. Discount admission coupons are available online at
