PCGS at June 2010 Long Beach Expo: Show Submission Specials, iPad Demos

(Long Beach, CA) - Coins submitted to the Professional Coin Grading Service during the upcoming Long Beach Coin, Stamp & Collectibles Expo will be eligible for PCGS' popular Show Special discounts for certification, and the new PCGS Secure Plus™ service will also be available. The Long Beach Expo will be held June 3 - 5, 2010 in the Long Beach, California Convention Center, 100 S. Pine Ave.

Visitors to the PCGS booth (#807) will also have the opportunity to see demonstrations of the convenient PCGS Photograde™ Online applications for the Apple iPhone™ and Apple iPad™, and have their coins personally examined by PCGS Co-Founder David Hall, President of Collectors Universe, Inc. (NASDAQ: CLCT). Hall will be available to meet the public from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. at the PCGS booth on the first two days of the show, Thursday and Friday, June 3 and 4.

"We've had excellent response to the show submission specials we've offered the past year at major coin shows around the country. And our recently-introduced PCGS Secure Plus service has also been very popular. This is an excellent opportunity for collectors and dealers to obtain the benefits of Secure Plus for their coins right at the show," said PCGS President Don Willis.

During the Long Beach Expo, PCGS will accept Show Service submissions until 5 p.m. on Friday, June 4, and all other submission levels excluding bulk through mid-afternoon on Saturday, June 5," Willis added.

The following show specials will be available in Long Beach to PCGS Authorized Dealers and members of the PCGS Collectors Club.

  • Walkthrough: one-day turnaround for $100 ($125 for Secure Plus) on any coin with a maximum value of $100,000
  • Show Economy: $65 per coin for U.S. and world coins valued up to $3,000 each with a minimum submission of five coins
  • Show Gold: $45 per coin($55 for Secure Plus) for any U.S. gold coin valued up to $3,000 each with a minimum submission of ten coins.

Customer Service representatives will be at the PCGS booth to answer questions and accept submissions.

Free iPhone and iPad apps for Photograde are available online at the Apple iTunes™ App Store. PCGS Photograde Online is an easy way for collectors, dealers and the general public to determine the approximate grades of their U.S. coins. There now are more than 1,450 detailed, close up photo images online for 69 types of 18th to 21st century U.S. coin issues shown in up to 30 different grades. The service is free as a courtesy of PCGS.

The June Long Beach Expo will feature a multi-million dollar display of over two dozen high-grade early American copper pieces including items from an all-time finest PCGS Set Registry collection. Assembled by Martin Logies, many of the coins in the Cardinal Type Collection of Early Copper exhibit are from his 2009 PCGS Best of Registry winner for Large Cents Basic Set, including:

1793 Chain AMERICA S-2 variety formerly in the Beckwith, Collins and Naftzger Collections and graded PCGS MS65BN;

1793 Wreath, Vine and Bars Edge formerly in the Naftzger Collection, PCGS MS69BN;

1794 Head of 1793 formerly in the Garrett Collection, PCGS MS64 BN; and 1803 No Stems S-243, PCGS MS66RB, formerly in the Helfenstein and Naftzger Collections.

The public hours for the show are Thursday and Friday, June 3 and 4, 2010, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Saturday, June 5, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

General admission is $6 (good for all three days); $4 for members of any coin or stamp club who display a valid membership card; and $3 for seniors 65 and older. Admission is free for children ages seven and younger. Discount coupons are available online at
